In the previous post I think I had a few photos that illustrated that well-known saying - a picture is worth a thousand words. Yet I also think just the opposite, sort of speak, is true.
After a long day of traveling from one town to another to take care of buying our train tickets, we were heading back to our flat on the local bus when we passed by a restaurant where we had eaten at several nights before. As we looked out the window of the bus we saw the waiter who had served us that night. In a flash we both recognized each other, smiled and waved. As the bus continued on, that moment became still for me. Still, as in a photograph. But the photograph is only in my head.
I think many moments exist that cannot be captured. I feel like I am saying something everyone already understands. But having moments such as this one makes me pause, just the same, to realize the obvious and smile.
Dear, dear Jeff,
you know, photography is a "tentative" to get safe the moment in the memory... sometime you can gets safe moments but... the picture it's just a copy, the original shadow still inside the soul of the moment it's only in your mind... but... could be lost, sometime or often... (...like a tear on the rain...eheheh)
I think only the poetry can change forms of moments that a man can try to capture... I'm not a poet I'm just a photographes. eheheh...
cheers,
Roberto your italian photographer's friend
